A Queen Elizabeth Wildlife Safari is a premier Ugandan adventure centred in Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for its incredible biodiversity, including over 95 mammal species and 600 bird species.Â
Located in Western Uganda, this safari features game drives for lions and leopards in the Kasenyi plains, boat cruises on the Kazinga Channel to spot hippos and crocodiles, and tracking chimpanzees in the Kyambura Gorge.Â
Breakfast on Day One will be provided at the hotel or your place of residence. At 7:00 am, our driver will meet you for a greeting and briefing about the three-day Queen Elizabeth Wildlife Safari. You will then embark on a 5-6 hour journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, passing through the towns of Masaka, Mbarara, and others. During the trip, there will be several stopovers, including a visit to the Uganda Equator along the Masaka road. Here, you can stand in both the northern and southern hemispheres, observe how water swirls in different directions when placed in each hemisphere, take photos, and purchase beautiful souvenirs. After your meals, you will continue the journey. As you approach Bushenyi, you'll be greeted by the refreshing air and the lush tea plantations on the hills of Igara and Ishaka, passing through the Kalinzu Forest Reserve until you reach Queen Elizabeth National Park. Once you arrive, head straight to your lodge to relax as you wait for the evening game drive.
Start the day with an early game drive that exposes us to a variety of wildlife. We may encounter members of the Big Five, including elephants and buffaloes, as well as big cats like lions and leopards, which are more frequently seen in the evening. Additionally, we might spot warthogs and hunchbacked carnivores such as hyenas along the routes we travel, along with many other species that reside in the park. The area boasts rich birdlife, particularly storks found in the wetland spots, as we approach the flamingos in the salt lakes at Kasenyi. After lunch, we will prepare for the classic highlights of a two-hour boat cruise on the famous Kazinga Channel, a 36-kilometer stretch linking Lake George and Lake Edward. During the cruise, you'll see land and water-adapted hippopotamuses yawning, while Nile crocodiles, known for their formidable nature, bask along the banks. Warthogs, reminiscent of Pumba, are also common in this wildlife haven. With your binoculars, you’ll have a magnificent view of birds and animals, including the playful African elephants as they enjoy the water.
This morning you go chimps trekking in Kyambura Gorge. Enjoy the walk through the forest and the fascinating meeting with the chimpanzees. After the trek embark on the drive back to Kampala with a stopover at equator and lunch in Masaka. Drive back through to Kampala as we have reached the end of the 3 days Queen Elizabeth Wildlife Safari tour in Uganda. Arrive Kampala or Entebbe in the evening.
